Template Flow

Which template is when used? In the flowchart below you se a schematic view of when which template is used depending on your settings.

Please note: Domains are always processed prior to products and zones are never overwritten when they already exists.

Create zone for product
Page: Settings -> Handling

Here you can select products for which a DNS zone should be created.

Do not create zone for domain registration/transfer
Page: Settings -> Handling

Here you can select products for which a DNS zone should not be created for its linked domain registration or transfer. When a domain is ordered together with a product selected here a zone will not be created for this domain. This can be used when you want to assign a custom template for a specific product or have DNS Management with a webhosting control panel instead of SoluteDNS.

Ignore Registrar
Page: Settings -> Handling

Here you can select registrars for which a DNS zone should not be created. For example you can select a registrar which has DNS management available through it’s own API and you do not want to use your PowerDNS cluster for this registrar.

Assign Template
If you want to use a custom template with a specified product you must assign the template to this product. Go to the template you want to assign in the admin area. Now open the ‘Settings’ tab and select the according product in ‘Product Assignment’. Hit ‘Save Changes’ to store all changes made.
